I’m probably starting to sound like a broken record, but I feel like I can never say this enough times.
[mostly taken from my last MCR rant]
This photo has over 1000 notes, so I’m willing to bet most of you have seen it, if not read the quotation elsewhere.
Now, in light of the fact that Gerard wants the MCR fandom to be a safe haven for those who are bullied or made fun of based on their (real or percieved) sexual orientation….think of some of the words you’ve been using to describe Gerard- “Sassy diva bitch.” “Pretty girl.” “obnoxiously homosexual.” and so on. As flamboyant as Gerard may be, he is in a very happy marriage with a woman, and he is most decidedly a man. I realize that these words are being used as terms of endearment, not insults, and that many of you will probably just say that I’m overreacting and can’t take a joke, but I really do think that the level to which this “joke” has gone has reached unacceptable and offensive. Tweeting LynZ asking if Gerard borrows her skirts? Really?
Not every flamboyant guy is gay, and just because a guy is gay or acts flamboyantly doesn’t automatically give you the right to refer to him as female.
Gerard is trying so hard to create a world without judgmental bullying, and you’re repaying him by throwing it back in his face.
Obviously what you post on your page is up to you and if I can’t change your mind that’s fine, but don’t be surprised if you get unfollowed.
UPDATE: The color of one’s clothing, (or even the clothing itself) does not determine a person’s sexuality or gender. These comments are bordering on actual bullying and really need to stop. Now I’m done with this mess. Stupid drama is giving me a huge headache and I really can’t deal with it anymore.
Follower Poll- Would you buy clothing customized by me, and if so, how much would you be willing to pay for it?
I have a ton of old t-shirts and such lying around the house, and a lot of newly mastered skills in beading, embroidery, applique, etc. so I was thinking that over the summer I could combine these things into a fun little business.
(obviously prices would vary depending on the garment and the amount of work put into it, but either give me your general budget range, or if you like a specific garment, how much you’d pay for it)
Here are my most recent examples (with varying degrees of detail):
(Cookie Monster design cut out of other shirt and appliqued onto dress, beading around mouth, gemstones over eyes)
(anything not the base fabric is done by me)
(applique, studding, and shredding)
I can also do painting (and I put the ribbons on those shorts as well):
And I may also do shredded shirts like this, if they haven’t reached the point yet of “Ew, hipster. Do not want.” (and the bra was also studded by me, but that would have to be custom ordered and more expensive)
That awkward moment when you're telling your mom about how you can't wear low cut tops without being constantly whistled and leered at by creepy men on the street, and your dad says "Wait, people still do that?"
ATTN: People going to Bamboozle tomorrow (Saturday)
Sadly I won’t be there, but you should definitely go see:
1) River City Extension (Zumiez stage, 5:15-5:45) Very rarely do I watch an unknown opening band while waiting for the performer I came to see, and then become so impressed and excited by the band that I immediately run and get their CD as soon as the set ends. RCE was one of these bands. They’re a bit on the hipster-y side, but are really just a lot of fun. (most notably their array of instruments including strings and horns sections, and their finale, where they climb into the middle of the crowd, instruments and all) Recommended songs: “Our New Intelligence” and “Something Salty, Something Sweet” http://www.myspace.com/rivercityextension http://www.rivercityextension.com/
2) Bo Burnham (Pass the Mic stage, 8:10-9:10) Also known as “that youtube kid with the keyboard in his bedroom”, he is one of my favorite comedians, with the bonus of being a pretty great musician as well. His jokes are some of the most intelligent and clever that I’ve ever heard, so make sure you listen carefully or you might miss something! Also, he’s absolutely adorable in every way. Smart, cute, and talented-what more could you ask for? http://www.youtube.com/boburnham http://boburnham.com/
